How We Win the West

Join us for an exciting evening at the Fremantle Town Hall on Thursday 3 August 6pm to see How We Win the West from uranium mining. Traditional Owners from areas that will be affected by the uranium mining proposals will talk about protecting their communities and country from uranium mining in WA.   Mayor Brad Pettit will give the opening speech on the City of Fremantle being a lead Council in the global Mayors for Peace Campaign.  The event will premiere the award-winning film “Walking for Country” a short documentary produced by local film maker Rez Nezamdoust on the 2015 Walkatjurra Walkabout.  Highlighting the rich vein of music talent running through the Goldfields, singer/songwriter Marcus McGuire from Perth and Kalgoorlie will be performing his original alternative rock and blues music. Conservation Council of WA, Director Piers Verstegen will officially launch the Supreme Court action that is proceeding with members of the Tjiwarl Native Title group to stop Yeelirrie uranium mine project and uphold environmental laws.  Hear from long-time activist and respected speaker on creating a nuclear free future, Dave Sweeney from the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF).  International activists from Canada and Taiwan will share information on what they are doing to stop the nuclear industry in their country.

Delicious food, beer on tap and mulled wine available and entry is by donation.  We urge all to come down, be inspired and motivated to see how we will win the west from mining uranium.  Can book free tickets here.
